Assassin Skin for UT Male Soldier Model by Flynn

August 28th 2002

To install this skin simply drop the .utx file into your unrealtournament\textures folder and the .int file into your unrealtournament\system folder. To use this skin when you host games, also add ServerPackages=SoldierSkins_Assassin to your unrealtournament.ini file in your system directory.

I actually made this skin quite awhile ago, but I didn't release it because I was going to add more faces. After all this time I never got around to making more faces for it and I probably never will so I figure I might as well just release it with the faces it has. Which 6 faces is nothing to shake a stick at anyway, even though 2 of them are slight modifications of one face.

When you first try this skin you will probably think it's pretty dark, well it is. It's not too dark though. I've played many hours against this skin, from godlike bots to my friends and have never had trouble seeing it. When I started this skin I asked myself what I would wear if I were entering the tournament in real life, this is what I came up with.

I've got a hundred or more hours in this skin easy. I'm not a professional artist by any means, so I really had to take my time for it to come out looking like I wanted it to. After completing this skin, I could probably do another one in a fraction of the time this one took, but I'm waiting for UT 2003. I painted everything myself with one exception, the face behind the ski mask is one of Epic's soldier faces because it just looked perfect that way. I used Paint Shop Pro to make the skin. I created each texture double size, 512x512, then sized them down.

I'm a bit different than most people, so if you want to modify this skin you are more than welcome to email me and I will send you the high color 512x512 originals with layers to aid you. I figure if you like this skin enough to want to modify it, well, that's just a big compliment to me, so I might as well help you out. This way, the skin you make will turn out better since you aren't messing with 256 color small pics and we will both look better in the process. I also figure if I give you the originals you'll be more likely to credit me for the work I did. Most of all, I would have found it extremely helpful to have a look at a quality skin complete with layers when I was starting out.

I'd like to thank all the people that took the time to write tutorials on skinning and painting techniques. I never could have done this with out you.

I hope you enjoy the skin as much as I do...
